Delicacies

Ichiran Ramen (Shimbashi)

Price: About 200 NTD/1 person

Texture: The ramen includes rich pork bone soup, people can choose the softness of the noodle, the spiciness and saltiness of the soup, and can pay more to get more green onion, barbecued pork, etc.

Feature: The seats in this restaurant are separated and it’s really suitable for people who want to eat ramen by him/herself. 

Review: This is my first time eating Ichiran Ramen. In Taiwan, there are two branches located in Taipei and Taichung. The environment in this restaurant is clean and the waiters’ attitude was really good. Before the trip, I thought there would be no queue in Japan because there are many branches there. However, we still waited almost forty minutes even though dinner time had passed. The texture, environment, and the attitude of the waiters are all great. This is a good choice for people who want to eat alone without distribution. Ichiran Raman is open to six a.m. It’s also a great place to have a bowl of warm ramen at midnight. Besides, the transportation here is really convenient, it’s just one minute away from the Hibiya Exit of JR.

Yonekyuhonten (米久本店)

Price: 1000-2000 NTD/1 person

Texture: The shop of sukiyaki is really famous in Asakusa. The beef here is delicious with raw egg yolk and rice. 
Feature: This is an old shop which includes traditional rituals. When entering the shop, the customers should take off their shoes and follow the instructions of the waiters. The waiters beat the drum when the customers come in. It’s not allowed to take pictures in this restaurant.

Price: 1000-2000 NTD/1 person

Texture: The shop of sukiyaki is really famous in Asakusa. The beef here is delicious with raw egg yolk and rice. 

Feature: This is an old shop which includes traditional rituals. When entering the shop, the customers should take off their shoes and follow the instructions of the waiters. The waiters beat the drum when the customers come in. It’s not allowed to take pictures in this restaurant.

Experience: This shop is really popular in both Japan and Taiwan recently. It is located in the shopping street of Asakusa. We ate the sukiyaki (壽喜燒) there after we shopped the stores in Asakusa. The beef in the sukiyaki is really delicious. At first, we just ordered one set each person; however, we didn’t feel fulfilled after finishing. We then ordered one set because it’s really tasty. The combination of the green onion, raw egg yolk and the beef was perfect. Beside the beef, the set also contains some tofu and konjac (蒟蒻). The defect was that the price of the sets was not so cheap because the amount of the ingredients were not too much. 

Afuri Ramen

Price: 200-300/1 Person

Texture: The soup of ramen uses pomelo salt. The texture is refreshing and special. People who like the sour taste of soup can’t miss this!

Feature: The spices of this restaurant are special because most of the soup is made with pork bones. Some people don’t like this taste but it’s really a great new choice for people to try.

Experience: The yuzu-flavor ramen shops are fewer than pork-bone ramen. This is my first time trying this kind of soup. It seems like most people prefer pork bone soup. However, I like this kind of texture more because the soup is really refreshing and not too greasy. It’s really suitable to eat with a glass of beer! In this restaurant, you can choose the softness of your ramen, the saltiness of your soup and you can also choose to add chicken breast or barbecued pork. After ordering your ramen, you can sit on your seat and wait for your customized ramen. The seats in the restaurant are not too many and the shop is popular recently, so we waited for about half an hour outside the shop. Nevertheless, I think it’s worth spending my time lining up for a bowl of refreshing ramen. The shop is near the shopping street of Omotesando and it’s just about three mins away from Harajuku Station.

Roast Beef Ohno Akihabara

Intoduction: The raw beef yakiniku rice, which is popular on the Internet IG, has 4 branches in Tokyo, Japan, Akihabara, Omotesando-side Harajuku, Kichijoji and Ikebukuro, and can be eaten in 4 popular Tokyo shopping districts. Roast beef slices surrounded by layers of Ono roast pork rice, served with special sauce and soft-boiled egg yolk.

Location: B1F, YM Square Harajuku, 4-31-10 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Business hours: 11:00-22:00

Transportation: About 3 minutes on foot from JR Harajuku Station Omotesando Exit

My feeling: At first, I think the flavor of beef rice bowl with cream and wasabi is better, and it will not overwhelm the original flavor of beef. The beef looks really red but it doesn’t taste fishy at all! And this lean meat doesn’t taste tough! On the contrary, it is a kind of tender and solid feeling, which is not bad in terms of taste, but the meat flavor is the original meat flavor of beef (but the meat flavor is not too heavy). It looks a bit like mayonnaise on the side, or it may be like “Hollandaise Sauce”; in terms of base, it is a bit similar to mayonnaise, and it is also mixed with egg yolk and cream, but it has more fruity acidity of lemon. It makes it taste more refreshing and jumpy, and it goes well with the taste of English roast beef.

Then poke the egg yolk, let the egg juice slowly stay, and then eat with the meat slices; let the tender beef slices have more egg yolk smoothness on the surface. When I poked the egg yolk, I realized that the sauce of this bowl of Roast Beef Onion Beef Don is not only Hollandaise, but also “black pepper sauce”, just like the black pepper or mushroom sauce we choose when we go to a steakhouse to eat steak , with the salty aroma of black pepper and the taste of sauce.

The white rice is also soaked in some sauce for seasoning, but the texture of the white rice grains is a bit soft, and the elasticity of the grains is not obvious; it can be eaten with beef, or with pickles on the side (there are seasoned pickled cabbage ), the texture and taste are a bit similar to the pickled mustard that we eat in Taiwan when we eat bento, but it is not as sour and salty as the mustard. This may be one of my top 3 in this tokyo trip!

Nemuro Hanamaru Sushi (根室花丸)

Introduction: Hanamaru(花まる)is the sushi shop in Nemuro where it all began. It is one of the representative port towns in Hokkaido. The seas near Nemuro are known as Japan’s rich fishing grounds and the Nemuro Port is alive with the harvests of fresh fish throughout the year. Some of our stores are conveniently located in places such as station buildings. There are10 stores in Hokkaido and 3 in Tokyo. Among them, 9 stores are Kaiten-sushi (conveyor belt sushi restaurants), 3 are normal sushi bars, and 1 stand-up sushi bar. (sushi-hanamaru.com)

My comment: This is one of the popular sushi in Ginza so i would suggest you go earlier to get your waiting number card. I give it a very good comment. There are not any meals giving me a bad taste. For example, in my photo, there is a whole crab in miso soup, and it only cost me about 400 yen(100 NT$). I think it is not too expensive to have this kind of meal. and the crab tastes very fresh and sweet. Moreover, the soul of sushi, tuna can’t be absent. The tuna oil is evenly distributed. When I eat the tuna sushi, I can feel the fish oil explode in your mouth. It’s just like I am swimming with tunas in the sea. more and more happiness fills my heart. I highly recommend everyone to eat this conveyor belt sushi in Ginza. Order varieties of sushi with one glass of beer and a crab miso soup.

Harbs (Shibuya)

Price: 200-400/ 1 person

Introduction: The Mille Crepes in this shop is the most famous. No matter if you want to eat inside or takeout, you have to wait in line. The cakes here are freshly made everyday. The minimum consumption is a drink. Beside desserts, there are also spaghetti and sandwiches on the menu. The cream is fresh and not too greasy. It’s suitable for people who want to spend their leisure time talking with their friends. The only defect is that there are usually queues outside the shop. People who want to eat in the shop should have patience. The environment inside is really clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. It’s really a great place for people to take a break in their busy life. 

Experience: I ordered a Mille Crepes which is the signature dessert in the shop. The cream was much but didn’t make me feel greasy.  The Mille crepes are a perfect  combination of fruit and cream. Although we’ve waited for the seats for almost half an hour, it’s still worth it to me because there are many seats outside the shop for the customers to sit. Besides, there is a famous high-rated Mille Crepes shop in Taiwan called Lady M. I’ve tried it before this trip. In comparison, I prefer the texture of Harbs because I love the rich taste of the crepes with sweet cream and fruit inside. It’s really a masterpiece to me and I still miss the flavor from Japan.

Yoku Moku Cafe

Introduction: Yoku Moku is a famous dessert shop. It sells delicious “cigare” , which is a kind of egg roll in cigarare’s shape. The cafe is located in Minamiaoyama. The seats are divided into outdoor and indoor areas. There are desserts, sandwiches, egg rolls for people to choose from. The outdoor sitting area is very comfortable. The seats are not too close, people can enjoy their tea time with their friends or family. The dessert shop is next to the cafe, people can buy the cookies they like for themselves or take them as a gift to share with their friends. 

Experience: This cafe was not on our schedule. When we shopped on the street of Minamiaoyama, we found there was a beautiful cafe with comfortable seats. We waited for about ten minutes before entering, then ordered a French toast and a pancake. After the first bite, we were shocked and thought they’re really tasty.  We’re fortunate to find this cafe and eat the desserts inside. People who go to Tokyo can’t miss this!The environment around the shop was also beautiful and we took many photos there.
